Iran FM Spokesman: Washington Seeks Iran's Destruction — But US Threats Only Deepen Our Resolve

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has stated that Washington's unequivocal objective is the destruction of Iran, emphasizing that threats from global superpowers do not intimidate the Islamic Republic but rather deepen its faith and reliance on God.

Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a gathering with seminary students attending the "Like Khomeini" camp in Tehran, Baghaei outlined the challenges facing the Islamic Republic in its confrontation with major world powers, stressing the necessity of trust in God, resistance, and support for the country's diplomatic efforts.

America's Goal Is to Destroy Iran

The Foreign Ministry spokesman was blunt about Washington's approach toward the Islamic Republic, stating: "The intention and goal of the Americans, without any ambiguity, is to destroy Iran."

He added: "The Americans may raise slogans at certain junctures, but these slogans have lost all credibility for everyone."

The Story of Iran's Stand Against Superpowers

Citing a verse from the Holy Quran, Baghaei compared the Islamic Republic's situation against major powers to the Quranic narrative, quoting: "Those to whom the people said: 'Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them.' But this only increased them in faith, and they said: 'Sufficient for us is Allah, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.'"

He continued: "This verse speaks of those whom the people — the hypocrites and enemy infiltrators — told that a massive army had gathered to fight them, warning them to be afraid. Yet this threat only increased their faith, and they said: 'God is sufficient for us, and He is the best guardian.'"

Our Work Is Extremely Difficult

Addressing the hardships faced by the country's diplomatic apparatus, Baghaei said: "Our work is extremely difficult. We must sit across the table from those whose hands are stained with the blood of the best people of this society, whom we know to be traitors, and negotiate with them while placing our trust in God."

Highlighting the country's diplomatic efforts and the necessity of capitalizing on the achievements of resistance and field operations, he added: "Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi must harvest the fruits of Seyyed Majid Mousavi's efforts through wisdom and diplomacy."

Pray for Diplomats Alongside Military Forces

The Foreign Ministry spokesman underscored the importance of diplomacy alongside other arenas of defending national interests, stating: "The time should come when, between the two prayers, you pray for diplomats in addition to military forces."

Baghaei emphasized: "Diplomatic efforts, alongside other arenas of defending the country, are part of the path to safeguarding the interests and authority of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and this path requires trust in God, wisdom, and support."

Diplomacy Is for Repelling Evil, Not Accepting It

Baghaei stressed that Iran must prove its righteousness through diplomatic tools, saying: "Diplomacy is for repelling evil. We must not equate diplomacy with accepting evil."

He continued: "The function of diplomacy extends far beyond this. One of its most important functions is to prove your righteousness and show the world that you are on the side of truth."

The Foreign Ministry spokesman added: "One of my foundations for diplomacy is the book 'The 250-Year-Old Man.' We must examine how the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) confronted the enemy in various circumstances and when they used dialogue and negotiation as a tool."

The fourth ideological-educational camp "Like Khomeini (RA)" is being held under the slogan "Season of Allegiance and Revenge" for seminary students, with the aim of explaining "the identity and lifestyle of the seminary student in the era of the revolution," "Imam Khomeini (RA) and the Martyred Leader as models of scholarship," and "the combat logic of the Islamic Republic." The camp is organized by the Young Seminarians Institute and runs from August 17 to 21, 2026.
